RETAL publishes eighth Sustainability Report

Plastic packaging manufacturer RETAL has published its eighth annual Sustainability Report, sharing its environmental, social and governance performance for 2025.

The report reflects RETAL’s approach to sustainability as a journey of continual development, with practical actions across its operations supporting both its own long-term performance and the sustainability goals of its customers.

A key 2025 achievement is RETAL’s CDP Climate Change score of B, reflecting its continued focus on climate disclosure and action.

Providing customers with reliable product-level environmental data remains an important focus. RETAL uses the Pilario life-cycle assessment modelling tool, including a PET-specific module, supporting customers in understanding the impact of different material, recycled content and production choices.

Renata Smataviciene, Quality & Sustainability Director at RETAL, says, “Our eighth Sustainability Report demonstrates the value of continually developing our approach. We are proud of the progress we have made while recognising that sustainability requires ongoing work, measurement and improvement. By strengthening our own business and working closely with our customers, we continue to identify practical opportunities to make a positive difference.”

RETAL receives A- in CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment

RETAL has been awarded an A- score in the CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA), recognising the company’s approach to supplier engagement and climate management across the packaging value chain.

The result follows RETAL’s 2025 CDP Climate Change disclosure score of B.

The CDP SEA evaluates companies in areas including governance, climate targets, Scope 3 emissions, and supplier engagement.

The assessment also recognises RETAL’s approach to including sustainability criteria within procurement and supplier management processes.

Elena Ralchenko, Sustainability Engineer at RETAL, said, “Our CDP SEA score recognises the importance of supplier engagement, transparency and climate management across the value chain. RETAL maintains B Score from CDP

Starting sustainability in 2026 off strong, RETAL confirms it has maintained its climate change B score from CDP for the second year.

With a B score in Climate Change Management and B- for Water Management, RETAL Chief Sustainability Officer Emmanuel Duffaut explains how this shows continued sustainability leadership in the plastic packaging sector. “CDP is strict and respected as a transparent and demanding disclosure tool. The last revision of their scoring methodology in 2024 once again raised the standard higher. We are proud that RETAL has maintained either a B or A score for the past four years, proving that we’re really making a difference.”

Emmanuel and his team are on hand to discuss how working with RETAL as a sustainable plastic packing partner supports global and local FMCG brands in reaching their own ESG targets. “RETAL consistently shows leadership in climate change management, with our performance across the CDP scoring categories reflecting the strength of our actions and commitment to mitigating impact and managing risks. We are happy to share with all our stakeholders how this commitment works in practice, and my regular email newsletter is an easy way to get more information.” Contact Emmanuel directly to join the mailing list emmanuel.duffaut@retalgroup.com

RETAL Showcases Leadership in rPET Innovation at PETnology 2025

At the recent PETnology 2025 Conference, RETAL’s Regional Production Director, Dainius Staniulis, shared how the company is combining technical expertise, targeted investment, and a commitment to sustainability to lead the way in reliable, high-performance rPET packaging solutions for global food and beverage brands.

In a session titled "The Path to rPET Processing – Innovation & Solutions," Staniulis highlighted the increasing demands placed on packaging converters by recent EU regulations, including the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) and the upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), both of which mandate higher thresholds for recycled content in plastic packaging.

Staniulis says, “Meeting ambitious recycled content targets in food-grade applications goes way beyond legislative box ticking. It’s a full-scale transformation in how we source, process and optimise material."

Recognising that rPET supply often varies in grade, consistency, and quality, RETAL has invested in proprietary technologies and enhanced process standards to ensure a stable and high-performing rPET offering that supports both sustainability goals and commercial competitiveness.

The presentation included insights from the importance of early detection of risks, process adaptation and standardisation, and smart use of in-house software and RETAL’s own patent-pending technology

With technical excellence, deep market knowledge, and a growing portfolio of certified rPET solutions, Staniulis’s presentation at this year’s Petnology Conference explains how RETAL continues to be a strategic partner for brands navigating the complexities of sustainable packaging legislation.
